Today I wrote another paragraph for my main WiP (yes, one paragraph. Break out the champagne). I'm trying to get back in the mindset for this story, since it's the one I care about more and want to finish more, but the other dumb story won't leave me alone. I've been listening to the music that originally inspired this story in the hopes it would take me back there, but it's only half working (if anyone else has any suggestions for writing exercises etc that might help with this, fire away).
I've also started a little painting with the new acrylics that arrived the other week. Didn't get off to a promising start, though, so I had a minor tanty and packed it all away again; in fact, I'll probably just gesso over it and start again tomorrow after work. Hopefully I'll have something to show for my next update. It's been a while since I painted with acrylics, so at the moment watching me paint is a bit like watching a budgie try to eat noodles with a spanner or something equally ridiculous. I also must remember to wear clothes I don't care about; I managed to splatter paint everywhere and now my previously-plain shirt looks like it was decorated by Jackson Pollock (still, I think half the fun of painting is getting it all over everything, including yourself).

Sure you can, Judgemental Dog. Just as soon as I finish writing it... *slinks away*
See how other ROW80ers are going here.
Totally agree, it's not as much fun if you don't make a mess doing it! :P
ReplyDeleteCongrats on getting the words out, even if you don't know where it's going yet. Hopefully that will work itself out soon enough! :D
Congratulations on being creatively productive!
ReplyDeleteOoh, painting.. :) that sounds like an excellent way to get away from the insanity of writing/editing/blogging. :)
ReplyDeleteJudgmental Dog is adorable by the way..or, *ahem* handsome.
Good job.. keep up the great work!
Maybe you just need to accept that the story needs to take precedent over the WIP for a little while. I find as soon as I do that, my annoying brain does what kids do as soon as they're allowed something or finally get that toys they've nagged their folks for - changes gear, or mind and wants what it had before. The WIP. Or maybe I just have a rebellious mind? I'm sure I'm not the only one. :) Good work on the word count and I love the sound of paint splatter :)
ReplyDeleteLove your judgmental dog by the way! What a cutie! Oh, and painting sounds like a most excellent way of working through the process. How wonderful for you to have the talent to do this. But the important part is that you're letting your story germinate and it will come out when it's ready. Have an awesome week! :)
ReplyDeleteThere's that cute dog again:) It's great how you made up for your work at the end of the week. Awesome!
ReplyDeleteyes, painting equals messy at least for me. Sounds like fun and something I should do more off. You sound like me with the one paragraph on main wip. I'm stuck on editing the beginning. Sounds like your week ended well. Have a great new week.
ReplyDeleteYour dog is super adorable. What does he think of your WIP. Painting sounds like a wonderful way to relax. Enjoy it!
ReplyDeleteWe should arrange write-in nights... we'd end up talking through it... but hey, there's the intent of being productive...
ReplyDeletethe kids I looked after used to like their painting because i let them get it everywhere but esp. on themselves - they enjoyed foot painting too when paint is poured onlarge sheets and they create with thoer bare feet - I would show them how! hey why not share the fun:)
ReplyDeleteyour characters will suddenly take of on their adventure - maybe they just need to get to know each better
all best for week - regards to judgemental dog
