I've also abandoned the fairy painting for now (sorry, Nan) and started sketching a steampunk scene, which I will either colour with watercolour, acrylic (if/when I get some) or coloured pencils. The scene kept kind of appearing in my mind, so I had to start putting it down on paper. I also sent off a request form for some free acrylic paint samples; doubt I'll get them, but it can't hurt to try (I've been watching art tutorial videos on YouTube, which of course has made me want the paints even more). Free stuff = awesome. Art supplies = awesome. Free art supplies = EPIC WIN.
As for Rex (a.k.a. His Furry Judgemental Holiness), he seems to be a bit happier since starting his treatment, though that may also be due to his cortisone injection giving him some relief from his arthritis. He's still a bit off his food, but since he always loses his appetite in the hot weather (we're in the middle of summer here), we're not too concerned. However, I'm sure he appreciates all the hugs and cuddles :)
Judgemental Dog decides to get tough on slack writers:

See how other ROW80ers are doing here.
114,761 words... get it right :P
ReplyDeleteBut I have been writing solidly since August or whenever it was that I started...
Ooh, you have good reads too! Add me!
oh, and GO BEC! Don't worry about outlines... I was happy and then only days later I changed my mind... you bringing something on Sat? Or else I think I'm the only one...
ReplyDeleteSounds like you're zipping along. And I'm happy the Judgmental Dog is feeling happier. =)
ReplyDeletelol Nah, I don't think I'll be bringing anything (I'm still trying to sort out the last of the workshopping feedback I need to catch up on; I swear every time I sit down to do it, something/someone interrupts me). I will be at the meeting though, maybe someone else will submit something before then?
ReplyDeleteI wish I could write solidly for that long, but half the time I bash out a few thousand words over a few days and then over the next week or so, write bugger all. I hardly use Goodreads but next time I'm on there I'll add you :P
Progress is progress! I hope Rex continues to feel better. Have a great week.
ReplyDeleteI think it sounds like you are making great progress! I always get into trouble when I start comparing my progress to any other writer's. We each go at our own pace, and each novel takes as long as it takes!
ReplyDeleteThat being said, I also know how great competition can be! I wish you great wordcount as you progress!
Keep up the good work Bec. The quantity of words isn't the issue, it's the quality. If they were 400-500 good words, then you should be happy.
ReplyDeleteVery good news about JD. He has a big job nipping at my heels to keep me writing in the year ahead.
Do you think you will overtake your friend? Sounds like she does have a significant advantage... play dirty - hide her laptop!
ReplyDeleteGlad your dog sounds like he's happier :D

You're making great progress!! Hope Rex feels better . My two little monsters just look at me with sad eyes when I don't write. Then they want me to take a nap with them ....Pied Piper's they are
ReplyDeletePoor JD! Hope he feels better soon!! BTW- Love your dragon book. Really cute. I can't do anything artsy, which is why my sister does all my artsy stuff. :) Did you do those illustrations digitally? They're really cool.
