So far this round, I have been achieving my goal of writing 500 words per day for three days each week, and in most cases have written more than that. I've written some of the climactic scenes for the third part of the book, and I'm finding that the more I write, the more I'm inspired to write more. I have still been tinkering with chapter 1 (yes, I know some of you are probably throwing things at your screens and yelling "Just move on and write the rest of the damn book, already!"), since I rewrote the beginning and added another scene showing the protagonist's (rocky) relationship with her selfish, materialistic father. I'll probably spend another day or two at the most on it (in between working on other things), and then I should be able to leave it alone for a while (by "a while" I mean "a few days, if I'm lucky").
I've also been working on the graphics for my fantasy eBook prototype. I don't think it will be completely finished by July 25th, as I had been hoping (I think in terms of scope I bit off more than I could chew, so I decided to cut out a few minor features), but it should be done within the first week or two of the semester starting. Then I'll be able to start user testing and putting the data together for my thesis report.
Judgemental Dog finds my lack of progress disturbing.

It looks like you're doing well. Good luck, and keep it going.
ReplyDelete*wipes coffee off the screen* Tweaking is for the finished book...(check out this post by Kristen Lamb if you get a chance: http://warriorwriters.wordpress.com/2011/07/11/editing-meet-the-novel-killer-2/ ).
ReplyDeleteLooks like you are doing well overall. Keep up the great work :)
Ha! I have a German Shepherd who gives me the same look! But usually he lays, sprawled on the floor in contented napping until he wants attention. Then he pushes in the keyboard with his big head and attempts to climb in my lap. Not helpful to my work, nor to my lap as he is six months old and over 70 pounds.....He's so adorable I want to punch him in the face. ~ Nadja
ReplyDeleteyou're a tweaker I see - I can't do it until the end or almost the end - then the task looks overwhelming - but well done and all the best for this week
ReplyDeleteIgnore Judgmental Dog! It sounds like you're making great progress and sometimes you have to tweak the things that came before in order to build on the things that came later. Good luck with the rest of your goals!
ReplyDeleteSounds like you're making good progress, even if Judgmental Dog doesn't think so :P I had to force myself not to tweak on my first draft but now that I'm editing I'm tweaking every. single. thing. It's going to happen eventually. Good luck with the rest of your goals this week!
