ROW80 Round 2 - 4th Update

I think I may have burnt up most of my creativity/productivity last week, because the last few days have been a bit slow. Monday was spent visiting my nan and for most of Tuesday I was at uni, so I couldn't do much then anyway. I had planned to get back into it on Tuesday night, but then my computer was all like, "haHA! NO productivity for you! I'm going to crash every ten minutes and make everything take half an hour to open!"

But then I was like, "NO ONE MESSES WITH BEC'S PRODUCTIVITY!" and I body slammed that bastard computer before hurling its sorry arse through my window, showing it who was boss.

Yes, that is how it went.

Today has been better, with my computer behaving itself (okay, so I lied about throwing it through my window), so I've managed to get a bit more done on my literature review, bringing my word count to about 2,800. I want to have at least 4,000 words of it written by the end of next week, or earlier if I can manage it. I haven't had time to touch my novella this week, but with the Easter holiday and mid-semester break coming up, I'll have a bit more spare time, so I should be able to squeeze in some Dark and Silent Waters/Astyrion (I still haven't decided which title works better) writing in between slaving away at the assignments I have due first week back... *headdesk*

As usual, Judgemental Dog is giving me the guilt trip:

Check out the other ROW80 updates here.

  1. You show that computer who is boss! How about next time threaten it with coffee? Will scare it to death and it might behave for you.

Congrats on your word count! I love Judgemental Dog. So sad, poor baby. LOL!

  2. Ah, I don't even want to think of the computer misbehaving! Every morning, I hold my breath until it comes on, and then even more until the Internet opens.

All of this because of a couple months ago when I had no Internet connection...twice, in a period of two months. I had to call the provider, etc., but now I'm totally paranoid!

My computer is OLD, so there's that worry....

Onward, though. Maybe if we speak softly to our computers, they'll behave. We have enough challenges without computer malfeasance. LOL

  3. I need to check, I think Mercury is coming out of retrograde so all kinds of weird crap is happening with computers and cars and all that. I usually don't get into astrology all that much, but for some reason, whenever Mercury goes into retrograde (and it is worst when it is going in and coming out), any technology in my house just goes NUTS. For example, my phone has been going crazy this morning, giving me calls that don't exist, etc. The other day the gas gauge in my car just stopped working. I filled up and the gauge went up, and then suddenly tanked. Then all of a sudden, it started working again... Just blame Mercury :)

Hope all the computer adventures allow you some writing time!

  5. LOL, luckily my computer gives me very little to complain about, sounds like the lit review is going well. I'm also playing catch up over the holidays.

  6. You aren't alone with computer issues. My laptop decided to die on me, it won't even turn on. Now I am doing all my writing on my netbook and praying I don't go blind before the novel is finished! haha Hope the second part of your week is better than the first!

  7. LOL! Why didn't I think of bodyslamming the little uppity fecker and throwing it out the window when my computer decides to throw a tantrum. Great tip. ;)

  8. Dark and Silent Waters is a great title, but it sounds kind of the like the titles in the Carrie Ryan books, so I don't know. Robin Sullivan says (if you don't know her, read her blog here: http://www.write2publish.blogspot.com/) that you should google the book title and see what else comes up. If you go to amazon and there are like 5 other well known books with that title, then avoid it and go with Astyrion, which I doubt has any other titles like it. It's a tough choice, because Astyrion sounds immediately like a fantasy title, while DASW sounds mysterious and intriguing. :)

    As always, love JD. :)

  9. So many times I have fantasized about laying the smacketh down upon my computer's candy ass before throwing it out the window. Resistance, it is the thing of people who want to own computers. Even when the computer tries to pull the Blue Screen of Death on you.

Good progress this week! Keep it up!
