Apparently I work best when I'm being a boozehound. This does not bode well for my future.
And then yesterday, while trying to get to and from uni, I had three train cancellations. Though this pissed me off no end, I was able to use the time I spent waiting to write almost six pages of my novella (this translated to maybe two pages of typed text; it was a small notepad but my handwriting is small). Most of these new words were for my epilogue, which is now almost complete.
Overall, I think I've added around 2,500 new words to my novella this week (EDIT: today alone, I've added another 1250 words. WHOOO! [end bragging]), which is more progress than I've made in a long time. I did finish chapter 1 the other week (at least to the point where I can leave it alone for the time being and get on with the rest of the story), but I'm still working on chapter 2; the last few paragraphs of that just won't seem to fall into place yet. Ah well... There's still an almost-full bottle of Baileys in my cupboard :D
Why you always gotta bring me down, Judgemental Dog?

P.S. I've received a few suggestions that Judgemental Dog should have a Facebook page. What do people think?
Excellent work, my next assignments due in about 4 weeks, I'm so glad we've got a load of bank holidays coming up. Alcohol can loosen the writing cogs.LOL
ReplyDeleteExcellent work! Judgemental dog should be less cynical.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you have added a great amount of words to your WIP. I hope I'll do the same next week.
ReplyDeleteHeh, judgemental dog is awesome. And how did I know you were a (fellow) Victorian based on the mention of train cancellations? :P Sounds like you're going great with your WiP. Hmm, perhaps I should take up drinking again?
ReplyDelete~vix~ a fellow ROW80 participant
Judgemental Dog doesn't know how hard it is to deal with train delays!!
ReplyDeleteHey, keep bragging! Great job this week.
ReplyDeleteSo funny re: your boozy writing rampage, I literally told my OH yesterday that I need to get a bottle of wine and write drunk because my best writing comes out that way. ;) I was only half-joking. LOL.
lol @lilimist: As a fellow Victorian, you'd probably agree with me when I say that our public transport system is enough to drive anyone to drink :D
ReplyDeleteFunnily enough, I rarely drink, a) Because I can't be bothered with the 'getting wasted every weekend thing' and b) I usually can't afford alcohol. But when I do drink, I often end up writing some decent stuff.
I don't have any assignments due for about a month. Oh, I should be working on them now, but the lack of an immediate deadline means I'm just going to waste time on my novella instead XD
